A Divine Appointment

This is a testimony about how God's plan comes together when we are willing to say "yes".
Pat & Mike Heiser

I first met Mike and Pat Heiser (1996) in Colorado where they had a trailer they rented out to C.B.C. students. Mike and Pat had also taken the C.B.C. Correspondence Course in Kansas City. I met up with Pat again at a conference in Kansas City. As she tells the story, she was very intimidated by me and was afraid I was going to tell her everything she had done wrong her entire life. She went home and told Mike he was not to talk to me because, "if you talk to Linus you will be on the mission field in a week."

A few years went by & in 1998, Kay and I had been asked to do a marriage seminar at the church they were attending in Kansas City.  Even though I knew them, I didn't know they had an interest in missions.

While at the seminar Pat told Mike, "Why doesn't Linus talk to us?"  Mike replied, "You told him not to, remember?"  Pat said, "Well it's OK now. You can talk to him."  We did talk, and Mike and Pat ran with the conversation. A few weeks later Mike & Pat met someone from Meru, Kenya.  Just a few weeks after that meeting, Pat & Mike moved to Kenya.  They started their ministry working with street kids, mostly teenagers.   These are Pat's words and I love them, "We are ordinary people, doing extra ordinary things."

This is exactly what we do at Acts 29 Ministry. We help people write their next chapter, their 29th Chapter of the Book of Acts.
School in the mountains, very hungry students.  A totally different culture than most of us are used to.
Mike, who was a police officer at one time, is not afraid of anyone. Rescuing these kids was only natural to him. When they would rescue the kids they unofficially adopted them into their family. I don't know how many kids they have adopted and raised in Kenya but I do know there are many success stories. Stanley is a great example. They raised Stanley and trained him in the Word of God. He finished school and began preaching the Word of God. He is now a pastor and one of Mike's Regional Directors.

His younger brother Dennis came to Mike through Stanley. Their mother had died and Stanley brought Dennis to Mike because he knew he would just be left on his own. He was only 10 at the time.
Dennis
Dennis was raised by Pat and Mike and sent to school, and then to college. He wanted to be a missionary but decided to stay and help Mike and Pat. He is now the assistant Director of their whole Ministry in Kenya.

I'm so proud of Mike and Pat for obeying the word God gave them to go to Kenya. Mike and Pat have never been Reluctant Warriors. They are Warriors for Christ, doing the work God gave them in Kenya. Their early ministry grew and soon included a Bible school and a church.
